Man gets 1 year imprisonment
Negligent Driving
Jammu, Jan 31: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu, Y P Bourney has convicted a driver for rash and negligent driving leading to the death of a seven-year-old girl and sentenced him to the imprisonment for one year and fine of Rs 5000.
Convicting the accused Manmohan Singh, the Court observed that from the evidence, it was proved beyond any doubt that the accused was rash and negligent in driving the vehicle at a high speed during night hours when it hit and run over a girl as a result of which she died.
The offences punishable U/Ss 279/304-A RPC is clearly established and accused is convicted accordingly for the commission. The accused is first offender having no criminal record as such he deserves certain amount of leniency, the court observed while sentencing the accused to undergo imprisonment for a period of one year and a fine Rs 5000.
