Srinagar, Feb 9: A local Court has extended the remand of the drunk policeman accused of killing a woman and critically injuring her daughter in an accident on Boulevard, till February 11.
 Presently in judicial custody in the Central Jail, the accused Asadullah Sheikh Belt NO 2573/S, son of Abdul Sattar of Rajpora Mandi Poonch was arrested after the unregistered Maruti van he was driving in an inebriated state on January 20, hit a mother-daughter duo, Shaheena Wani and Sakiba on a footpath on Boulevard.
 While Shaheena died while being shifted to hospital, her daughter was critically injured.
 After his arrest, he was sent to judicial remand for 10 days which was earlier extended till February 6.

'We have apprehensions'
Husband of the victim, Ghulam Nabi Wani has made a fervent appeal to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to ensure speedy action against the accused cop.
 “I have apprehensions that the accused cop may try to get bail with the help of his colleagues. I believe that as a father and husband, the CM can understand my pain. The cop has not only killed my wife but critically wounded my daughter. She had recently completed her engineering and this incident has shattered her dreams to purse higher educations,” he said.
 “As a citizen I make a fervent appeal to the CM to ensure stringent action against the cop,” he added.
