Geelani sets pre-conditions for Pak visit

ZULFIKAR MAJID

Srinagar, Feb 11: Pakistani deputy high commissioner in New Delhi Thursday called on Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, at latter’s New Delhi residence.
Sources said the diplomat invited Geelani to visit Pakistan.
“Indo-Pak peace process was also discussed during the meeting,” they said.
Confirming the meeting, Geelani told Greater Kashmir that Pak diplomat had come to enquire about his health. “Also we had detailed discussion on Indo-Pak peace process. He (Pak diplomat) invited me to Pakistan. I told him that unless Pakistan changes General Pervez Musharraf’s Kashmir policy, I wouldn’t visit Pakistan.”
“Though Pakistan is very dear to Kashmiris, I urged him to convey it to Pak establishment that there should be visible change in the Pakistan’s Kashmir policy which saw a sea change during Musharraf’s regime. I also urged him to highlight human rights violations in Kashmir at diplomatic level,” he added.
