Govt to frame OBC Board: Omar

Kathua, Feb 11: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today said that Government shall constitute a separate Board for Other Backward Classers. Earlier, OBC was being clubbed with other Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribe Boards. Now, with the constitution of separate Board for OBCs, it will help in accelerating the pace of development and welfare of this section.
Interacting with an OBC deputation, Omar said the state was moving fast on the track of development and it was essential that Government takes care of all the sections. He said OBC had a key role to play in all development of the state adding the Government was serious to ameliorate their lot.
He said he was keen about the welfare of farmers and the commitment to constitute a separate Kissan Welfare Board had been fulfilled. The Board has already started working for development of the Kissan, he added.
Similarly, for the welfare of Scheduled Caste, as well as for Gujjars and Paharis, separate Boards have started working. He said a separate Board for OBC would be constituted shortly to redress their grievance.
