Pandits get Trout at doorstep for Shivratri

Srinagar, Feb 11: For the convenience of Pandits putting up in the City, the Department of Fisheries on Shivratri eve provided trout at their doorsteps selling some 3.9 quintal of the special fish.
TheDepartment’s Assistant Director, M M Bazaz said the department earned an approximate revenue of Rs 1 crore from the sale and also helped the private farmers in sale of 1.8 quintals of carp production on the occasion.
“The fish was provided at the doorsteps of people residing in the traditional Pandit dominated areas of Srinagar like Indira Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Habba Kadal and others. It is an achievement by the department,” he said.
He said the department had established 425 carp Ponds in J&K, thus providing an employment avenue to the educated unemployed youth.
Meanwhile, Pandits have hailed the endeavour.
"It's great that the department provided fish at doorstep," said Prikshet Koul of Habba Kadal.
