Srinagar, Feb 12: The residents of Hamzah Colony, Near Grid station Illahibagh have said the area was running short of graveyard land and appealed the government to allot a vacant piece of land for the same.
“In 2006, the Housing and Urban Development ministry had recommended allotment of a piece of land situated beneath 1,33,000 KV power transmission line, but till now the allotment is awaited,” they said.
“Some residential houses have already been erected illegally on one of the sides of the land, to save the said land from further illegal encroachment, the Intizamia Committee of Hamzah Colony, Illahibagh was left with no options but to take the land in its own possession by constructing a boundary wall around it,” they said.
