Challan produced
Srinagar: The State Vigilance Organization Saturday produced challan against an officer of Zonal Education Office Kangan. In a statement, a Vigilance spokesman claimed that its sleuths caught senior assistant, Muhammad Sadiq Raina of Zonal Education Office Kangan while accepting an illegal gratification of Rs 1,000 from a ReT teacher, Muhammad Shafi Rather of Kangan for preparation of service book. The statement said the Vigilance produced the challan before the Special Judge Anti-Corruption in FIR no 22/2009.
NC for arrangements on Milad-un-Nabi (SAW)
Srinagar: The National Conference General Secretary, Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, has urged the divisional administration to make elaborate arrangements of transport and ensure uninterrupted power and water supply for convenience of devotees visiting Hazratbal shrine on Milad days beginning from Sunday. Sheikh Nazir has also asked the administration to keep available sufficient stocks kerosene and cooking gas besides better quality rice, sugar and flour at ration depots.
Pilgrim dies in Jammu
Jammu: A pilgrim, hailing from Jharkhand, died on way to the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu’s Reasi district today. Narinder Kumar, 50, a resident of Ranchi, suffered a massive heart attack near the shrine, officials said. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead, they said. The body was handed over to the family after post mortem.
