Kupwara villages reel under darkness

Kupwara, Feb 13:  Scores of villages of this frontier district  remained without electricity even after ninth day of snowfall that hit the normal life. 
 Though officials of power development department restored the electric supply  to Cheerkoot, Lalpora and Sogam areas but half of the valley Lolab, Hayhama, Batpora, Jugtyal, Dardepora, Guzrial, Warsun, Rationpora, Melyal, Kachahma, Thindipora, and scores of other villages continue to reel under darkness.
 Though snow has been cleared from main roads of the district,  the upper reaches remain cut off restricting normal movement of people.
 People there continue to shift the patients to the health centres on stretchers covering the miles of distances on foot despite accumulation of thick snow cover and slippery conditions.
 Meanwhile, more than 350 passengers of remote areas of  Keran, Karnah and Machil were lying  stranded in different parts of Kupwara.
