PHE to force over-aged employees out
Excess Emoluments Drawn Would Be Recovered: Taj
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Feb 13: The government has issued the final notices to forcibly retire a large number of employees in the Public Health Engineering Department who had over-run their superannuation age and had been afforded three months to quit voluntarily. The Medical Board will determine their age on the basis of which they will be asked to refund the emoluments received by them in excess, sources said.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, the minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-din, said around 2,500 employees had volunteered to retire and their papers had been forwarded to the Accountant General to release their pension and other benefits to which they were entitled under rules.
“The employees who had over-stepped their 58-year age limit had been served the notice in October after which they had sought three months time to respond. At the expiry of the notice period, 2,500 employees approached us to volunteer retirement while the others kept mum,” the minister said, adding they would be asked to go through screening for determination of their age.
