Parimpora association seeks compensation

Srinagar, Feb 15: The President Falcon Market Association Parimpora said they would oppose any move to demolish their shops unless they were compensated duly.
In a statement here, the association President, Muhammad Asif Khan said there were hundreds of shops from Parimpora to Narbal.
He said most of these shops over the years have been opened by unemployed youth mostly graduates and post graduates.
He said if their shops were demolished they would be rendered jobless. They asked for compensation and rehabilitation before any kind of demolition drive starts.
Meanwhile, the Government has assured tenants and shopkeepers of Umarabad Zainakote of compensation.
The Deputy Commissioner, Me’raj Ahmad Kakroo, conveyed this to Falcon Market Association delegation today when they met him at his offices this morning.
Presently four lanning from Parmipora to Narabal is being executed by BEACON authorities. The government has already given possession of 717 kanals to the BEACON for the purpose.
Sources said that the land owners who had propriety ownership have given the compensation. Sources said the houses and business establishment on both sides the road have been already given 80 percent of the compensation after being assessed by the Roads and Building authorities.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Kakroo said that tenants approached him for their rehabilitation. “They were told that appropriate measures will be taken for their rehabilitation in due course so that their lively doesn’t suffer,” the DC said.
The shopkeepers asked the Deputy Commissioner that they should be provided adequate compensation.
