The residents, at a meeting on February 10, expressed concern over the apathy of the various departments and agencies especially the administration to resolve their problems, despite repeated requests by the people. “The problems include frequent power cuts, power tariff and non-replacement of old HT/LT lines and damaged poles,” the statement said and flayed the PDD Xen and AEE concerned for their alleged failure to address grievances. He alleged that the old HT/LT lines and damaged poles had claimed number of human and animal lives.
The residents, it said had presented a memorandum to the chief minister at Ganderbal during his public Darbar on June 25 last year, highlighting the problems of the area. “Inspite of the assurances by the Chief Minister, no action has been taken,” they said.
