‘4300 doctors, para medics to be recruited’
Srinagar, Feb 16: Minister for Medical Education, RS Chib on Tuesday asked the doctors and para-medics to be punctual and devoted to their job as people have great expectation from them.
Chib was addressing a function at Government Medical College, Srinagar today, after laying foundation stone of Girls Hostel and Students Recreation Centre, estimated to cost Rs. 9 crore and 72 lakh, respectively.
An official handout said minister for State for Medical Education and Health, Javaid Ahmad Dar and MLA and Chairperson, J&K Women Commission, Shamima Firdous were also present on the occasion.
Chib said: “There is no doubt that our hospitals are crowded with patients and there is deficiency of staff but the Government has taken a major step forward for construction of infrastructure, procurement of necessary equipment and recruitment of staff.”
The Minister further said that 4300 doctors and para-medics are being recruited through various agencies to cater the needs of various hospital and various complexes are ready for commissioning, both at Srinagar and Jammu.
Minister of State, Javaid Ahmad Dar, on this occasion, said that through one year is not enough for assessing the performance of any Government, several major steps have been taken by present the Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in various sectors, including health and medical education.
He said that the Government will leave no stone unturned in mitigating the grievance of people and health sector has been prioritized.
MLA, Shamima Firdous, in her address, announced an Ambulance for Dental College out of her Constituency Development Fund.
Emphasizing on dental health, as well as other components of health, Shamima said that landmark achievements have been registered in respect of dental health.
Principal, GMC, Srinagar, Dr. Shahida Mir, Principal, GDC, Srinagar, Dr. Reyaz Farooq, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, MD, JKPCC, Medical Superintendent, SMHS, Dr Wasim Qureshi were present on the occasion.
