Srinagar, Feb 17: Download the original attachment – Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today called for consolidating and completing the ongoing development works.
Reviewing the physical and financial achievements at a meeting of District Development Board, Budgam here today, the Chief Minister emphasised thrust on works, currently in different stages of completion, so that immediate benefit percolates down to the people for whom these are designed. While expediting the pace on these works, he specifically asked for making use of quality material, observing, “No compromise in this regard will be acceptable”.
Reiterating that the developmental works and implementation of other schemes should reflect on ground, the Chief Minister pointed that to assess the progress registered, the mechanism of monitoring has been made more effective by roping in reputed consultancy, NABCOM, which will assess about 600 works all over the State. He exhorted the officers to extend all required cooperation to the agency for monitoring the designated works effectively, in a time bound manner.
The Chief Minister noted with satisfaction the expenditure incurred so far this fiscal and directed for making best and judicious use of the funds in the remaining next two months.
During the course of sector-wise review of various projects and schemes in the district, Omar approved an additionality of Rs 3.33 crore for various projects and schemes. These include, Rs. 1 crore for land acquisition, Rs 1 crore for micro works, Rs 37 lakh for Muhharam related arrangements, Rs 30 lakh for power transformer workshop, Chadoora, Rs 25 lakh for un-tied funds, Rs 55 lakh for IAY works, Rs 16 lakh for the Degree College, Beerwah.
The District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Muhammad Rafi, gave a detailed resume of the physical and financial achievements and said that against availability of Rs 76.11 crore, expenditure to the tune of Rs 54.52 crore have been recorded during the current financial year so far marking 71.63 percentage.
The meeting, among others, was attended by the Minister for Finance, A. R. Rather, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hussain Mir, who is also Chairman of the District Development Board, Budgam, Minister for Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Aga Ruhulla, Advisors to Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul and Devinder Raina, legislators, Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen, Javid Mustafa Mir and Dr. Muhammad Shafi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, Principal Secretary, Planning, B. B. Vyas, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, s. Naseem Lankar, Chief Engineers and Heads of various departments, District and Sectoral Officers and presidents of Municipal Committees.
