Govt sabotaging working of democratic institutions: PDP

CONDEMNS ACTION ON MOURNERS

GK NEWS NETWORK

Jammu, Feb 17: Concerned over the Government’s decision to postpone local bodies’ elections, the Peoples Democratic Party today termed it “an attempt to sabotage the functioning of democratic institutions to capture them illegally.”
Addressing workers here, the party leader Rangil Singh said, “Instead of giving power to the people, the government seems to be desperate in capturing these bodies through bureaucracy,” he observed.
Speaking on the occasion, the party’s general secretary, Balbir Singh said the party would oppose the decision in the upcoming Assembly session.
Meanwhile, the party’s youth president, Bashir Assad condemned the use of force by CRPF troopers on mourners at Redwani Kulgam on Tuesday demanding immediate action against the accused.
In a statement, he said the forces enjoyed unbridled powers under AFSPA and Disturbed Area Act adding the government had failed in protecting the lives of the people.
