Rather listens to agri-related agencies
Pre-budget meet

Srinagar, Feb 18: Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather today held wide ranging pre-budget discussions with various associations of agriculture, floriculture, horticulture, sericulture, poultry and related sectors to have suggestions and feedback about bringing improvement in these fields.
The FM said majority of the population in the state is involved in agriculture related sectors and its development would definitely lead to overall development of the state. He said that agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors offer ample employment avenues and advised youth to setup their own units in these sectors and avail benefits of the schemes launched by the government. He said that there is need to further develop these sectors and achieve self sufficiency in foodgrains, oilseed and vegetable production.
Rather said that government has constituted Kissan Board and skilled development centres are being setup in every district. He said that of providing of kissan credit cards to the farmers is being expedited.
Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minster of State for Floriculture, Javaid Ahmad Dar, Economic Advisor to the State Government, Jalil Ahmad Khan, Directors of Agriculture, Floriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture and Command Area Development and representatives of Kashmir Fruit Growers and Dealers Association, Kashmir Valley Fruit Growers Union, Silk Weavers Association, Flowers Growers and Dealers Association and Kashmir Farmers Association attended the meeting.
