Maqbool Bhat’s brother detained after release

Jammu, Feb 1: Police detained Zahoor Ahmed Bhat, brother of JKLF founder Muhammad Maqbool Bhat, immediately after being released from Kotbalwal jail, here on Monday evening.
Zahoor was whisked away by some police personnel in civvies from outside Kotebalwal jail, from where he was released on court directions.
Younger brother of Late Maqbool Bhat, Zahoor was detained under Public Safety Act from Kupwara on February 11, 2009.
“I had been waiting since this morning for his release as I had submitted a direction from Kupwara court before the jail authorities”, Muhammad Iqbal Bhat, cousin of the detainee told Greater Kashmir.
“I kept waiting till 5:30 PM, when Zahoor was brought out and asked to leave”, he said adding”, “However we were intercepted by some cops in plain cloths outside the main gate of jail premises”.
“Zahoor was asked to sit in the car and I was told to leave the place,” he said adding that the detainee was taken to some undisclosed location and no official was ready to give his whereabouts.
