Probe ordered into use of cell phone by detainee
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu: An enquiry has been ordered into the use of a cell phone by an under trial HUJI militant who surrendered before the forces, Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda said on Monday.
The enquiry followed a video clip of under trial Sher Khan- a former Divisional Commander of Harkat-Ul-Jehadi-Islami which showed him using the cell phone at a local eatery where the police had taken him after a court appearance. He has surrendered last year.
“I have directed the authorities to enquire into the incident of use of mobile phone by one of the under trials,” Khoda said. He said police had taken them under elaborate security as they had to be presented before a court.
“The militants were taken to the eating point under elaborate security. They were taken from Udhampur jail to Kishtwar and presented before the court in connection with some cases yesterday,” Khoda told PTI in connection with the footage aired by a private TV channel.
They had travelled to Kishtwar from Udhampur, and they could not have been denied food, IGP Jammu Ashok Gupta said.
The channel had aired footage captured by a person with a mobile phone showing under trials having food at a restaurant.
