‘Kanitar-Dargah road sans street lights’

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Feb 19: The Falah-e-Behbood Committee Naseemabad Kanitar has complained that the road from Kanitar to Dargah was devoid of street lights.
In statement, the Committee said the pedestrians and commuters were facing tremendous hardships from last many years. “The absence of street lights caused several mishaps and injuries to the people,” the Committee said adding that despite numerous reminders, the municipal corporation failed to install thee lights.
It said a single street light installed by the government had become defunct. “The need of street lights in the area has become more important as the Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi (SAW) is approaching fast,” it said adding the devotees had been facing tremendous problems during the night due to the non-availability of street lights.
The Committee said that the power transmission lines in the area had also become worn out and were hanging dangerously on the electric poles. “Despite apprising Power Development Department about the grave issue, they failed to repair these lines,” the Committee said.
It also complained of dog menace in the area saying their population had increased manifold. “Many people including children were bitten by these dogs,” the Committee said adding the children had to be accompanied by their parents on way to tuitions and other activities. It said the municipality had failed to curb the dog menace.
