Give IPT access to records: Majlis to govt
KHALID GUL
Shopian, Feb 19: Massive protests were witnessed here after the Friday prayers against the failure of the government to identify and arrest the culprits of rape and murder of Asiya and Neelofar.
After the Friday prayers, people assembled outside the Jamia Masjid and Tak Masjid and staged a sit in. Later amid pro-freedom and anti-government slogans they marched throughout the entire town. The protesters were demanding justice to the victims of rape and murder.
Addressing the protesters, Majlis-I-Mushwarat general secretary Abdul Hamid Deva said, “We have requested the state government to provide access to the records to an International Peoples Tribunal (IPT) but our pleas have fallen into deaf ears.”
