GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Feb 20: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, today reviewed the implementation of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) and Restructured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) in the State, at a meeting.
The Chief Minister said that he would be holding quarterly meetings to review the pace of implementation of these schemes and directed the Deputy Commissioners to hold such monthly review meetings in their respective districts.
Omar directed the engineers to take proactive measures in the power distribution system and minimize pilferage, both human and mechanical, for which he asked them to take the necessary technological support. He also directed to maximize the coverage area under these schemes. He said henceforth the material purchase and physical progress of any project should coincide while directing the Deputy Commissioners to monitor the same in their districts.
The meeting was told that a new Restructured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Programme has been launched in the country since April 2009 and in J&K, 30 towns including the cities of Jammu and Srinagar are being covered under it for establishment of baseline data and IT applications for energy accounting and auditing at an estimated cost of Rs 144.11 crore. Under the scheme, baseline data preparation would be undertaken, which includes consumer indexing, GIS mapping, metering and automatic data logging of distribution transformers and feeders.
