JK budget session from today
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Jammu, Feb 21: The budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir legislature will begin here on Monday amid tight security, even as a determined opposition has vowed to grill the government over several issues, including the proposed surrender policy.
Governor N N Vohra would address the joint session of both the Houses on Monday. The session will conclude on April 5, Assembly Secretary M Ramzan told PTI.
The annual budget for 2010-11 and supplementary statement of expenditure for current fiscal of 2009-10 would be presented on March 12, he said.
PDP, the main opposition party, might raise the issue of Justice Sagir Ahmed report on Centre-state relations and alleged human rights violations in the state.
“Omar government has failed on all fronts of development. It was also endorsed by the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi”, PDP Youth president, Bashir Asad alleged.
BJP is all set to raise the issue of the proposed surrender policy, Sagir report, price rise and issues of displaced Kashmiri Hindus.
“We will seek answer from the government on the floor of the house about surrender policy,” BJP Legislative Party leader, Chaman Lal Gupta told reporters here.
Panthers Party said it will raise the issue of alleged corruption in the government among other things.
