Non-performance costs dear to private company

Jammu, Feb 21: The Jammu and Kashmir government has forfeited a bank guarantee of Rs 68 lakh of a private construction company for non-performance of work allotted under the Prime Ministers' Gram Sarak Yojna in the state.
 "For non-performance in PMGSY projects in Varmul district, the state government has forfeited bank guarantee of Rs 68 lakh of Jay Kay SAM Construction Company," an official spokesman said here today. The company, which was allotted various road construction works in Varmul district for an amount of over Rs three crores, has failed to complete the projects within the deadline set by the government, he said. Meanwhile, the minister for Road and Buildings G M Saroori said all other such non-performing contractors and constructions companies, besides defaulters, would be given the same treatment.
 He instructed the engineers of the department to prepare a list of such contractors and companies who do not fulfil the requirements of the projects.
