Aspirants look ahead for Management, Law

Srinagar, Feb 23: Gone are the days when most would look at medical and engineering streams as ultimate career options. The Kashmir University’s counter for admission forms to various graduate and post-graduate courses has a different story to tell. This time, here, most of the aspirants submitting the forms are interested in Business and Law streams.
Arshad Wani, a student from Sopore said: “I was always interested in studying law and I have applied for the same.”
Many aspirants had similar observations about the business stream.
“Despite a distinction in matriculation, I didn’t opt for medical or engineering but went ahead straight for commerce,” said Deeba who aspires doing BBA.
With the KU throwing open admission in to various graduate and post graduate courses, a beeline of aspirants could be seen in the campus waiting for their turn to submit forms, the last date for which is March 1.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Showkat Shafi, the varsity PRO said the public relations cell was available to assist the aspirants.
“We are available for the students to help them in issues regarding admissions in various courses. Counters are kept available in PR centre for submission of forms and fees in five central branches of J&K Bank,” the PRO told Greater Kashmir.
Observers agreed a trend has been noticed that students now look for alternate to medical and engineering courses.
“With the passage of time change, perception of people has changed and now students seems to be more interested towards management and professional courses,” said a KU lecturer.
The KU has kept three helpline numbers available for the students while the counselling centre is open to queries from 9 AM to 4 PM.
This time, the KU is also organizing career counselling camps at Islamabad and Varmul on Feb 23 and 24 respectively. This program is being done in collaboration with Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS).
