JCC-GOVT MEET FAILS
Employees’ strike today
DANISH NABI
Srinagar, Feb 24: The meeting between the employees’ joint consultative committee and the government failed to break the stalemate over the implementation of sixth pay commission recommendations and other demands.
Following the deadlock, JCC has threatened to go ahead with its proposed program of assembly Gherao and lock-up of Government offices on Thursday. “Thousands of employees would Gherao Assembly in Jammu on Thursday while a complete lockout of offices would be observed elsewhere in the state,” a JCC spokesman said.
One and half hour meeting called by the government this afternoon ended unsuccessfully as the government representatives failed to convince JCC, spearheading the agitation, to call-off the strike. The meeting took place in the winter capital where finance minister, A R Rather and senior officials tried to convince JCC to call off the agitation.
