Srinagar: A 3-day farmers’ awareness and training camp on oil seed production technology was organized by Agriculture Extension Officer, Zone Qamarwari, here. The
 Chief Agriculture Officer, Sharief Ahmad Dar, said traditional style of agriculture should give way to modern techniques to boost production.
 Experts made a presentation on the cultivation of oilseed crops, its importance in cropping system, diversification and its benefits for farmers, use of balanced dose of fertilizers, organic manure, Sulpher treatment and post harvest management.
 The Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer, said 1500 hectares had been brought under high yielding variety of oil seed crop in Srinagar during 2009-10.
 About 50 progressive farmers of Parimpora, Zainokot, Malroo, Khushipora, Lawaypora, and Mujgund interacted with officials. Some high yielding peas seeds were distributed among the farmers on the concluding day.
