Awareness camp on IHDC held

Srinagar, Feb 27: Senior vice president, KCCI, Abdul Hamid Punjabi inaugurated an awareness camp on Integrated Handloom Development Scheme (IHDC) of union ministry of textiles at Saidapora, here.
The camp was organized by Directorate of Handloom Development, J&K and among others was attended by Additional Development Commissioner, Srinagar, representatives of State Bank of India, J&K Bank and ICIC Lombard.
Punjabi on the occasion highlighted the need for proper and time-bound implementation of cluster schemes in Kashmir. He said such schemes would help socioeconomic uplift of handloom weavers.
He said the chamber had played a vital role in getting eight clusters sanctioned for J&K. He said the chamber had recommended to Ministry of Textiles one cluster each of handloom for Pashmina, silk and wool.
