Police gets 5-days remand of KVIB officer

Jammu: The Special Judge Anti-corruption Jammu, J R Kotwal on Tuesday granted five days police remand for district officer, Khadi Village and Industry Board Rajouri, Muhammad Zaman who was caught red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting illegal gratification.
 The accused Muhammad Zaman was produced before the Court by the Vigilance Organization for remand. The Court after hearing CPO, Purshotam Sharma granted police remand up to February 6 with the direction that after expiry of the remand, the accused be produced before the Court for further order.
 According to the Vigilance, Muhammad Farooq of Kewal Tehsil Budhal Rajouri lodged a complaint alleging that the accused was demanding Rs 5000 as illegal gratification for sanction of loan to the tune of Rs 1 lakh in favour of his brother. The vigilance sleuths after registering a case laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while accepting the bribe.
