Red Cross mela on February 6, 7

Jammu, Feb 2: To aware people about the Red Cross movement, Red Cross Mela is being organized on February 6 and 7 at Kala Kendra here.
Addressing a press conference, the Divisional Commissioner, Dr Pawan Kotwal, who is also the chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, said the purpose of event was to educate masses about the activities of Red Cross Society, help generate resources for it and to promote the Red Cross movement.
He said number of NGO’s and government departments had been involved who would set up their stalls to offer specialized products. During the two day mela, the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages would present cultural programme while Big 92.7 FM has short listed young voices of which first three would be awarded, he said adding various educational institutions would set up food stalls besides joy rides and magic show.
A raffle draw would be organized on February 7, he said adding the winners and sponsors of various competitions would be awarded at a function at Raj Bhawan.
He appealed to the people to participate in large numbers in the mela to make it a success and help the Society in generating funds for the needy and sufferers.
