Wamiq – innocence silenced to death
Killing of a budding flower Wamiq at the hands of Police personnel is a highly condemnable and deplorable act. It speaks of the high headedness of law enforcers who have again soaked their hands with the blood of a budding flower. While guilty police persons should be met with the same fate under law, the relevant agencies of Government of India need to take serious notice of the rotten security situation that we have in Kashmir. Why do we have different standards for Kashmir and Kashmiris? Quiet diplomacy has shut the mouths but let it not shut their eyes and ears also. A new trend has set in with advent of this Quiet Diplomacy when at the drop of a hat, Police resorts to direct firing at protestors. Is protesting akin to something that deserves shooting down a protestor. In the instant case, Wamiq was not even that. Are there any Human Rights Watchers in this country or we enjoy talking of abuse of Human Rights in Kashmir only during summers when Kashmir climate offers us a respite from heat wave in plains.
