JK Cements launching Rs 19 cr plant soon

Jammu, Feb 4: J&K Cements Ltd is shortly commissioning a grinding-cum packing unit at Samba at an estimated cost of over Rs 19 crore having capacity of 99000 metric tons of cement production. The Techno Economic Viability Report (TEVR) has already been received. The construction of the infrastructure at the site is at pace and is nearing completion.
 This, according to an official statement, was stated at the 92nd Board of Directors meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Industries and Commerce,   Surjit Singh Slathia, who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors Jammu and Kashmir Cements Ltd. Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma (Vice Chairman of the Board) was also present.
 The meeting was informed that 20 kanals of land has already been acquired at SIDCO Industrial Growth Centre, Samba phase-II. With the commissioning of this Unit, the challenge of the other producers in the field market could be met easily in the area. Raw material for the unit would be made locally available. The Board was assured that measures have been taken to maintain the environment at the site all devices to check the pollution, with development of green areas and plantation of trees within the premises.
 Addressing the meeting, the Minister said that days ahead would be very hard for the company and enjoined upon the authorities to maintain the quality of cement being produced which will help to sustain it.
