Poonch spends 76 per cent plan

Jammu, Feb 4: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today emphasized the need for speeding up work on various development projects and ensuring implementation of welfare schemes so that benefits of development percolate down to people on immediate basis.
 Addressing DDB meeting in Poonch the CM called for effective monitoring to ensure time bound completion of various development works and implementation. In this context, he referred to the third party monitoring by consultancies like NAPCON, a wing of NABARB, and urged the officers to extend their full cooperation to it.
 Omar noted with satisfaction utilization of 76 per cent plan expenditure so far this financial year, hoping that further headway will be made in the remaining two months. He complimented the District Administration for this achievement while making a specific reference to the judicious utilization of funds, use of quality material and sticking to the time schedule with regard to completion of projects. Referring to the obtaining dry spell, the Chief Minister asked the District Development Commissioner to draw a contingency plan for coping up with the situation and ensuring drinking water and irrigational facilities. In this connection, he sought involvement of all the concerned agencies like Public Health Engineering, Irrigation, Agriculture and allied departments in formulating a viable action plan.  The Chief Minister announced Rs 10 crore additional funds for completion of some ongoing works.
