FCIK concerned over declining skilled work force
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Feb 7: The Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir today expressed concern over the declining local skilled workers in the state and called for a well defined policy for enhancing such labour force.
Addressing a meeting organized by the Technical Education Department to review the performance of Industrial Training Institutes, FCIK President, Shakeel Qalander blamed the successive governments for their non-seriousness in the development of skilled labour force, a statement said.
He said the government’s lack of concern had resulted in the engagement of five lakh non-local skilled workers in various industries of the state.
Pertinently the government had constituted a committee to suggest measures for bringing improvement in the functioning of ITIs with focus on skill upgradation to cope up with burning demand of trained work force. The committee would submit its report within a month.
The decision to this effect was taken at a review meeting of the ITIs under Public Private Partnership and vocational Training Improvement Programme on Saturday chaired by the Minister for Technical Education, R S Chib.
