1 killed, 7 hurt in Uri house collapse

Uri, Feb 8: One person has been killed seven others injured when a residential house came under the landslide at Nawarunda village of Uri near LOC here.
 The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Yousuf Kohli son of Salam–ud-Din of Nawaarunda and the injured includes Nazir Ahmad Kohli, Wazir Muhammad, Liyaqat Ali, Aasha Begum, Muhammad Khursheed, Sayee Kataria and chatu Badana. The deceased and all the injured belong to same family.
 According to reports cattle including 7 cows and 30 goats were also killed in the incident.
 For past three days due to heavy snowfall and incessant rains land is sinking at several places in Uri belt. High alert had been already imposed in the region by the authorities The incident has spread shocking waves in the whole region.
 Meanwhile, immediately after the incident the people in several villages near Loc including Gharkhote,Machikrande, Dachi, Gohalan have been asked not to come out of their homes and several families living in unsafe places have been shifted to safer places.
 In another similar incident at Gharkote, Uri, one army man was injured when a shooting stone coming down from a high mountain hit him on head. He was immediately taken to hospital. 
 While talking to Greater Kashmir, the senior superintendent of police Varmul, Shakeel Beigh said that army and civil administration has been directed to take remedial measures for the safety of the people. He said administration people living under the threat of land sinking would be shifted to safer places.
