Govt failed to safeguard peoples’ lives: PDP
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Jan 11: Expressing concern over the ‘spurt’ in human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir for last one year, the Peoples Democratic Party today said the government had ‘failed to safeguard’ the life and dignity of people.
Rejecting enquiries into the killing of Inayat Khan allegedly by CRPF and the shooting of Greater Kashmir lens man by a police DSP, the party’s youth wing president, Bashir Asad said “the killing of innocents by forces has been going unabated and the culprits were moving scot-free.”
Asad reiterated party’s demand of troop reduction and revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act. “Instead of getting bogged down by the vested interests, the political leadership must, with determination, cut through the vicious circle of the detractors and work steadily on the confidence building process,” he said.
