Pakistan delegation calls on Mufti

GK NEWS NETWORK

New Delhi, Jan 11: The Pakistani delegation attending the ongoing Indo-Pak peace conference, called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed here Monday.
Former President of Pakistan Supreme Court Bar Association and ex-Minister, Aitzaz Ahsan, and former Minister and Chairman Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Iqbal Haider, had a luncheon meeting with Sayeed. PDP President Mehbooba Mufti was also present at the meeting.
According to PDP sources, Sayeed, in his interaction with the Pakistani delegation, stressed the urgency of speeding up the peace and reconciliation efforts to prevent the wreckers from destabilising the region. Hailing the latest peace initiative at the non-government level, he said the leadership of the two countries would be forced to follow suit if it is piloted by a strong public opinion.
“And to strengthen the peace constituency in the region, the civil society has a vital role to play,” he said and added that Jammu and Kashmir could become a hub of fresh peace efforts in the South Asian region, if both the two countries are able to resolve the issue through peaceful means.
