Employees’ strike paralysis work in offices

Jammu/Srinagar, Jan 12: Works in almost all the government departments including schools, colleges and hospitals remained paralysed on Tuesday in view of the one day pen-down/tool-down strike call given by Jammu and Kashmir Government Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC).
Reports said the strike call completely paralysed work in most of the government departments. However, there was no reports of any clash.
In Jammu police and paramilitary personnel foiled an attempt of the employees to gather outside Press Club Jammu. The employees later hold protest demonstrations outside SMGS Hospital at Shalamar, which is situated near Civil Secretariat.
Various unions and organizations of employees also organised dharnas and protest demonstrations in their respective government offices.
Talking to Greater Kashmir convenor of one of the factions of the EJAC, Muhammad Gafoor Dar said the government was not keeping with its promise made to the employees earlier.
He claimed that strike was complete as leaders of all the employees unions and associations have assured full cooperation and employees stood united on the call of EJAC.
The presidents of both the factions of JKEJAC Ram Kumar Sharma and Muhammad Gafoor Dar and EJAC senior leader Pardeep Sharma visited various offices and addressed employees. They appealed the employees and workers to remain united and prepare themselves for long struggle.
In Srinagar, the breakaway faction of EJAC protested non-implementation of the sixth pay commission recommendations.
Complying with the call, the employees associated with the JKEJAC gathered at Pratap Park here and staged protests for several hours together.
The protest demonstrations affected work in several government offices including Government Medical College, Power Development Department and others.
