Jammu, Jan 12: In its endeavour to do something innovative Hotel Jammu Ashok has come up with ‘Dining in Shikara’ – A synchronization of various elements giving an exclusive dining experience.
Addressing the press on the inauguration of the Shikara, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Kavinder Gupta said it is a new and innovative concept introduced by the new generation management.
“It is the new concept and I hope this will attract customers, who are ready to pay provided you serve batter to them,” the mayor said.
Samant Kumar, General Manager, Hotel Jammu Ashok said Parvez Dewan, former divisional commissioner, had designed the Shikara personally. “The Shikara has been designed for families and couples who want privacy. Personal waiter would attend to all those who choose to dine in the Shikara,” he said.
This magnificent piece of artistry has been made by Gulam Nabi from Srinagar, a known Shikara maker.
The Shikara is 26 feet in length, 5 feet in width and the height is 9 feet.
The Shikara which is a wooden boat found serve tourists in Dal Lake and other water bodies in Srinagar.
The hotel has already thrown open newly renovated executive floor comprising 24 rooms and one suite with all the latest amenities.
As per the hotel management they are getting huge demand of these rooms from the new age travellers. In the last four months, we have done almost double business as compared to last year same period. This is the highest business ever generated during the last four months.
The entire Hotel is complimentary wi-fi enabled. “A Business Centre is here for the use of corporate guests who do not bring their laptops with them,” Samant Kumar said.
The up-gradation of the parking area, road and landscaping has already been carried out. The hotel is installing the latest Property Management System with EPABX and SMS interface to provide better services to the guests. The installation of the new ETP Plant and Elevator is also underway.
GM said that with the guidelines from Ministry of Tourism the hotel is in the process of creating caravan Parking Site.
“The concept of Caravan Tourism has gained immense popularity across the globe owing to the freedom and flexibility it provides while holidaying vis-à-vis itineraries and accommodation.
A Caravan Park is a place where Caravans cars stay overnight in allotted spaces providing basic or advanced amenities and facilities.
Ashok Gold Card which was launched by Hotel Jammu Ashok last year has been a great success and this Card is now valid in all ITDC Hotels throughout the Country, Kumar said.
