Arrest Director of Agriculture: Speaker tells SSP Srinagar
‘Bring Him Handcuffed To My Chamber’
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Jan 13: The Speaker, Muhammad Akbar Lone, has issued a non-bailable warrant against the Director of Agriculture Kashmir for “violating” the sanctity of his (Speaker’s) office.
“I have directed the Senior Superintendent of Police to bring the accused handcuffed to my chamber tomorrow,” Lone told Greater Kashmir.
“The direction has been given following misconduct of the officer towards the institution,” Lone said. “There is nothing personal. It is the discretion of the Speaker to call any person about various issues pertaining to his department.”
However, the Director Agriculture, Mian Abdul Majeed, said he didn’t have any such information.
Sources told Greater Kashmir that the Speaker had called the officer on the official phone, which was picked up by some other official in the office who, however, didn’t inform the director about the Speaker’s call.
Annoyed with the Director Agriculture for not responding to his call, the Speaker directed the SSP Srinagar to arrest the officer and bring him to his (Speaker’s) chamber handcuffed to ‘teach him a lesson’.
“Sensing trouble, the official had later sought the intervention of the Agriculture Minister who showed reluctance to intervene in the matter,” they said.
