Imam Jamia Masjid Jammu passes away

Jammu, Jan 15: Imam Jamia Masjid Talab Khatinka Jammu, Moulana Sadar-ul-Hassan Qasimi, died of cardiac arrest, here on Friday. He was 77 year old.
According to the family members, Moulana Qasimi was preparing himself for Friday prayer and performed Gusul this morning at his residence at Talab Khatikan. “Soon after he came out of washroom he complained of chest pain and collapsed,” a family member told Greater Kashmir.
He was rushed to Government Medical College Jammu, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Moulana Qasimi, who is survived by two sons and three daughters, served as Imam of Jamia Masjid Jammu for more than 50- years. Born in Samtipur Bihar, Moulana was appointed as Imam of Jamia Masjid in the age of 27 years.
Beside being Imam, the deceased was also running Madrasa Taleem-ul-Quran at Talab Khatinka Jammu.
Soon after the word about his death spread in the area, businessmen, irrespective of their religion, closed their shops to pay homage to the departed soul. The deceased was laid to rest at Gujjar Nagar graveyard. Thousands of people attended his funeral prayers.
