Power potential

This refers to the electricity generation potential of Jammu and Kashmir. The state is rich in water resources and can generate a significant amount of electricity. But unfortunately not much is being done in this regard. The state government is entering into deals with agencies like the NHPC. It is really shocking that the state sells a unit of power at Rs 13 paisa to Northern Grid, but purchases the same at over one-rupees.  Moreover the Royalty we get is 88:12 as compared to other states like Maharashtra which gets 50:50. In the state many Mega Power Projects have been set up but one fails to see their results as the energy is utilized by other states. This is sheer discrimination.
