Achan residents protest

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Jan 18: The residents of Saidapora Achan have expressed their dismay over what they said government’s decision of expanding the garbage dumping site there.
“The government has notified that 579.8 Kanals and 149.4 Kanals of land under different Khasras are to be modernized and up-graded for the public purpose,” the locals said.
The residents said: “Government had constituted a committee for shifting the dump from here to some other place in the City. But now it seems as the constituting the committee was an eye wash.”
They said more than 700 families were dwelling in the area and facing severe health problems.
