JK ready to switch over to GST

Srinagar, Jan 18: Even as the traders’ community in J&K has shown its concern over the impending General Sales Tax regime, state government has conveyed to the Centre that it is ready to introduce the proposed Act.
Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather while speaking at a pre-budget meet with Valley’s top industrial body, the Federation of Chamber of Industries Kashmir, said measures had already been initiated to introduce the proposed Act in J&K.
''We have conveyed to Union Finance Minster that J&K is ready to introduce proposed GST Act,'' Rather said.
He said another meeting with all the stakeholders will be convened here for seeking further suggestions before the budget session begins on February 22 in Jammu.
