Wrong step
This is in response to the Revenue Departments letter dated. 08-01-2010 and subsequent Notification issued by Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (GK 14-1-2010) for filling-up the vacancy of 2045 posts reserved specially for the Kashmiri Migrants who have migrated from Valley w.e.f 1-11-1989. I am deeply hurt by the separate Notification issued by the Jammu and Kashmir government under the garb of “Kashmiri Migrants Special Recruitment Drive.” It is yet another deliberate act to divide and sub-divide Kashmiri people. At a stage when common Kashmiris yearn for an all-inclusive society and want Kashmiri Migrants from east and west return to their homeland, the said government Notification shall serve to compartmentalize Kashmir Society. Further, a particular section of people or any particular community can be given a “Special Class” status by the government but these acts have always caused anxiety, hate and animosity at the social level. I hope the present government led by Omar Abdullah shall pay heed and abrogate the Notification to avoid a big loss at social level and issue fresh Notification covering all permanent Kashmiris, whether residing in Valley, Jammu or elsewhere.
