Voter ID error: Woman faces cheating charge
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Muzaffarnagar (UP), Jan 20: A man has sought divorce from his wife after her voter identity card showed someone else as her ‘husband’, much before her marriage.
Vikas, who moved the family court last month after discovering the election document of her wife Baby -- a resident of Budhaha town -- has slapped two cases against her including cheating for second marriage, Baby’s father Ramesh Chand said today.
However, Baby, 26, mother of a one-year-old, claimed she had applied for a voter ID card before her marriage. But, the card issued to her mistakenly described her as the wife of one person, Kamal.
She said she did not rectify the mistake and after a long period of her married life her husband discovered her voter ID card and filed a divorce case against her. She also had to spent about four days in police custody, Baby claimed.
