Major fire in Warwan area of Kishtwar

Kishtwar, Jan 21: At least a half a dozen houses were reduced to ashes and 20 persons injured in devastating fire that broke in a remote village of Warwan area of Kishtwar district, late last night.
Reports reaching here revealed that around half a dozen houses were gutted in the devastating fire in Sukhni hamlet of Warwan area.
It was learnt that fire broke out in one of the residential house, late on Tuesday night and it soon spread to the adjoining houses. At least six persons living in this particular house received critical burn injuries, a local residents told Greater Kashmir, over phone.
He said the fire soon engulfed the other houses in the village. A least six houses were completely gutted in the fire, he added.
However, deputy Commission Kishtwar said that three houses were completely damaged in the fire incident, while three others have received partial damage. “At least 20 persons are reported to have received burn injuries out of which one person was in critical condition”, he said adding, a team of senior government officials and doctors has been dispatched to the area.
At least 200 houses were gutted at Margi village in the same area in October 2008 followed by two other major fire incidents.
