Shopian tragedy
This refers to the news that the International Peoples Tribunal wants to investigate the Shopian double rape and murder case. One fails to understand why the Jammu and Kashmir government is not permitting the Tribunal to conduct the investigation. Irony is that the government is dependent upon the Centre on such matters, and this way, the authorities are giving a clear impression that things in the Valley are beyond their control. That takes us to a fundamental question as to who actually runs the government in Jammu and Kashmir. If the Government of India is really sincere in addressing the issues of human rights violations, it must immediately grant permission to the Tribunal to investigate the case, which has been covered up in a systematic manner.
