SPO held for selling pistol

Jammu, Jan 21: Police on Thursday arrested five persons, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), for allegedly selling a Chinese pistol to a militant in Doda district.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested five persons Waseem Ahmed, Farooq Ahmed, Maqbool Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed and Adil Hussain in Doda two days back, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Doda, Prabhat Singh told PTI.
“During interrogation arrested youth revealed that two policemen, SPO Muhammad Nawaz and head constable D K Singh were also involved in the racket,” Singh added.
He said that Nawaz was arrested while police was on a look out for D K Singh.
“During questioning, youth claimed that Singh had sold a recovered Chinese pistol to the LeT militant Muhammad Rashid alias Aslan in Doda with their and SPOs help three years ago. The gang had collected Rs 35000 and paid it to Singh,” he said.
