CM approves Industrial Estate at Ompora

Jammu, Jan 27: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today approved Rs 22.51 crore Industrial Estate to be established at Ompora in Budgam district to help expand industrial activities
and promote production and marketing of industrial goods in the state.
An official statement said that one of the most important features of Ompora industrial complex was that it is first in the state to cater to the export oriented floriculture industry. A high tech floriculture park spread over an area of 390 kanals is proposed to be setup in the complex for the purpose.
A Common Effluent Treatment Plant has also been envisaged in the Estate to cater to the treatment requirements of the raw effluent to be available from the industrial units in the complex.
The Industrial Estate to be established over an area of 1050 kanals at Ompora, 16 kilometer from Srinagar on a Kariwa Top is likely to house 126 small and medium industrial units.
The complex will be having facilities for exporting goods through air, rail and road transport. The layout planning has been proposed on a rectangular grid pattern with facilities like commercial complex,administrative blocks, etc. within the complex.
