Fake Encounter Case

Srinagar, Jan 27: The Principal district and session judge on Wednesday directed the special public prosecutor to present all the listed witnesses in 2006 fake encounter case in the court on Thursday.
The joint director prosecution, Farooq Ahmad Kathwari, told Greater Kashmir that the case ha been listed for tomorrow, as witnesses were not present.
Pertinently, a police party comprising H R Parihar, Bahadur Ram, Farooq Ahmad Gudoo, Farooq Ahmad Padder, Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Bansi Lal and Zahir Abbas had picked up a carpenter, Abdul Rehman Padder of Larnu Kokernag, on December 8, 2006.
He was killed allegedly in a fake encounter, 9-days after being taken away. Police had described him as a “foreign militant” and then Inspector General of Police had presented a cash award of Rs one lakh to the police party for killing a “wanted militant.”
In another case an Imam from Banihal was picked up by a joint party of police and army on October 4, 2006 from Alamgiri Bazar and was killed allegedly in a fake encounter. In this case H R Parihar and others are accused along with the army Colonel, Vikram Singh, Lt Col V K Sharma, Major Reshi Khad, the JCO Pawan Singh and Sitawan.
However, the accused troopers had managed to get a stay from the Supreme Court.
