Kashmir Inc welcomes CM approval for IE Ompora

Srinagar, Jan 28: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the approval by chief minister Omar Abdullah for Rs 22.51 crore Industrial Estate to be established at Ompora in Budgam.
 Terming the step as a significant one, president KCCI Nazir A Dar said it would help expand industrial activities in the state.
 The Industrial Estate to be established over an area of 1050 kanals at Ompora, 16 kilometers from Srinagar on a Kariwa Top is likely to house 126 small and medium industrial units.
 The complex will be having facilities for exporting goods through air, rail and road transport. The layout planning has been proposed on a rectangular grid pattern with facilities like commercial complex, administrative blocks, etc. within the complex.
 Dar said such steps by the government were a welcome one. However, he hastened to add that more needed to be done.
 “Kashmir trade and industry has seen worst of the times. And it is time the state government took Kashmir specific steps to help its business,” he said.
 Dar said the Debt Relief Package was under positive and final consideration of government of India and “the state government should use its offices to persuade the centre to approve this package,” he said.
 He said the recommendations for the package were made by an inter-ministerial committee constituted by the union government.
